The second ultrasound results are in and it's as official as it's going to get: We're having a girl!
It's entirely possible that we'll have a little surprise on delivery day and this blog post will come back to bite me in the ass, but I'm just going to say it: January and I were really hoping we were going to have a little girl, and we're pretty excited about the news.
To be clear, this absolutely does not mean we will be immediately stocking the house up with all matter of pink things; January and I both have pretty unisex tastes when it comes to kids clothing, so I think it's more likely to be a lot of oranges and yellows and greens. We even took a quick sidetrip at IKEA on the way home from a wedding shoot last weekend and picked up a few things to get us started. Including a crib. My baby has a gender and place to sleep now, and this whole process is getting very, very real.
We've been getting a lot of questions about the whole "Captain Bojangles" moniker and whether or not we would be keeping that once we know the sex of the baby. January and I both feel pretty strongly about not naming this kid -- officially or even informally -- until she's here and ready to be introduced. Sure, we've been bouncing a few names around, but until we can actually hold her in our arms we will be sticking with Captain Bojangles.
