Let me get you up to speed. Apple, as expected, has introduced a new super-thin notebook computer. The world rejoices.

Apparently, in order to get this thing as thin as they did, they had to make some compromises. No integrated DVD drive. No ethernet ports. Max 1.8Ghz processor speed. That's understandable; if you want a 3 pound notebook computer you're going to have to give something up. Up to this point, I'm completely on board. But then the collective brain of the collective internet exploded with the news:

The battery is enclosed in the case. Sealed in.

Now, I'm not as upset about this as a lot of people are, mostly because I'm not in the market for a tiny, tiny computer. But let's call a spade a spade here: This is a huge mistake on the part of Apple. I don't know anybody who would buy a notebook without the option to put in a backup battery on those long trips.

My rant isn't with Apple, however. AppleInsider has taken it upon themselves to put our fears to rest. "Don't worry," they say. Swapping out the battery is "trivial." It only requires a "single size-0 type philips screwdriver." Just unscrew the bottom of the case, locate the battery, and unplug the battery from the circuit board with "a simple tug." Then just pop in your new battery, screw the case on, and you're back in business!

Thanks AppleInsider, for putting my mind at ease. I'll take one! Actually, I'll take two for when I accidentally snap part of the motherboard off trying to replace my battery per your instructions.
