This past weekend was the third annual RBI Baseball Tournament, which was held in Indianapolis at the residence of good friend Stavros Rouspoloulos. If you've been following my performance in past tournaments, you'll know that I haven't always fared very well and vowed last year to work hard to improve my standings in this year's tournament. Well, the bad news is that my record this year did not improve. At all. In fact, this year was my worst showing ever. The good news is that everybody makes it into the tournament, and by a stroke of luck I was actually able to win a game in the tournament, which is a first for me!
Minutes before my devastating 3-4 loss to The Snake
This year's tournament also marked the passing of an RBI Baseball legend: former Houston Astro's pitcher Dave Smith. Dave Smith died under mysterious circumstances on December 17, 2008, and to honor his legacy we prepared presentations reflecting on his life.
In addition to these presentations, Brent prepared an excellent Choose Your Own Adventure book solving Dave Smith's murder once and for all. I'm working on getting a copy of that book for exclusive publication right here, so stick around; You won't want to miss that. As if that weren't motivation enough to come back, over the next few weeks, I'll be parsing through all the video footage that was shot so I can compile another recap video.
Finally I want to thank Stavros for hosting the tournament in Indianapolis this year. I know it's always a bit of an inconvenience to have a dozen guys staying at your place for a solid weekend, but it was a lot of fun. And of course, congratulations go out to Barn who not only celebrated the first ever back-to-back championship win, but he did it using the worst team -- the Houston Astros -- every single game. Well done, Barn. You earned this one.
