Have you heard? November is National Novel Writing Month! But if you're super-hip and into the whole abbreviation thing, you can call it NaNoWriMo. Â While I love the idea of actually writing a novel one day, it's not exactly the best time right now to dive into a commitment like that without notice. Fortunatley, it's also NaBloPoMo: National Blog Posting Month.
The idea is basically to commit to writing a blog post every single day for an entire month. Â For the most part, I'm content with my level of activity on my blog -- the past two months' running-centric posts notwithstanding -- but I think the commitment of writing a post every day will stretch me to come up with some more creative topics and styles, so I'm going to give it a shot.
One big advantage this amount of writing will give me is the opportunity to write about some of the topics I usually try to avoid: technology, politics, and pop culture. Â As a general rule, I try to keep my blog as much in line with the "news about me" concept as I can, but writing every day should afford me a little flexibility to keep up with my "news" quota as well as venturing out into some other topics of discussion.
So, short and sweet today. Expect 28 more posts over the course of November. If you have a blog of your own, it's not too late to join in! If I don't already know it, include a link to your blog in the comments below and we'll keep each other accountable to daily posts for the month. Â If you need some ideas for topics, you can check out some other NaBloPoMo writers on Twitter.
